Role & responsibilities :

• Seamlessly, all VMs currently on GCVE from VE1 to VE2 with minimal downtime.
• Migrate On Prem VMs to GCVE VE2 cluster
• Create new VE2 clusters and decommission old VE1 clusters as migration progresses.
• Reduce the number of hosts in VE2 by leveraging higher-capacity target VMs.
• Ensure all migrations are validated, tested, and documented
• Cluster Creation: Build new VE2 clusters and prepare for vMotion-based migration.
• VM Migration: Migrate ~4,400 VMs (prod and non-prod) using vMotion.
• Capacity Planning: Adjust host counts in VE2 based on larger VM capacities.
• Network & Storage: Reconfigure network and storage as needed for the new environment.
• Testing: Execute comprehensive test cases, including disaster recovery scenarios.
• Validation: Verify compatibility with existing systems, dependencies, and integrations.
• Performance Measurement: Document pre- and post-migration performance metrics.
• Rollback Procedures: Define and validate rollback strategies for safe recovery.
• Documentation: Update runbooks, architecture, and configuration documentation.
• Program management engagement covering prescribed migration scope (Server workload Volume)
• define wave groups, wave sequencing, wave schedule plan and roll back plan
• define application workload classification, grouping and migration feasibility assessment with application stakeholders
